The Kirkland Hiawatha Schools Foundation/Friends of Hiawatha oversees many scholarships available to graduating Hiawatha Seniors. Below is an overview. For further information on the individual scholarships, please click the links at the end of this page.
Specific Scholarship Information Qualifications and Monetary Amounts
Dr. Allen and Donna Kaalaas Memorial Scholarship ($1000)
College, vocational, or technical curriculum MUST BE in medicine, nursing or agriculture.
Preference will be given to nursing applications.
Dr. Allen and Donna Kaalaas Memorial Scholarship in Memory of Vincent O. Green ($1000)
College, vocational, or technical curriculum MUST BE in agriculture or business accounting.
Elmer and Pauline Adee Memorial Scholarship (Two @ $500/ea)
College, vocational, or technical curriculum should be in agriculture or agricultural related field.
Mark Conro Memorial Scholarship ($600)
Must be continuing his/her education at Kishwaukee College.
First preference will be given to a candidate seeking advanced educational degrees in nursing.
Second preference given to a candidate seeking advancement in educational degrees in music or art.
David Conro Memorial Scholarship ($600)
Must be continuing his/her education at Kishwaukee College
Preference will be given to the candidate who seeks vocational education in the areas of building trades, diesel/auto mechanics, or architecture.
Janet Conro Ross Memorial Scholarship ($600)
Must be continuing his/her education at Kishwaukee College
Preference will be given to a candidate who seeks vocational or an advanced degree program in the areas of child care, home economics or associated degree in pursuit of Culinary Arts & Hospitality, education or business.
Lorraine Michiels Memorial Scholarship ($500)
Scholarship will be voted on every year April 10, Lorraine’s birthday.
Each senior will vote for 1 person. The top four vote-getters would be submitted to the faculty who will make the final choice.
Thomas R Williams Memorial Scholarship ($2000)
Scholarship has been established to assist graduating seniors from Hiawatha High School in financing their post-secondary education at an institution of their choice. This award is granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin. See application below for more specific details.
